The herbert Family

In January of 2021 our family felt God giving us two clear instructions.

>> Nathanael will be leaving his job at the end of the year <<

Throughout the year of 2020, we were learning to surrender money and possessions to God. As for Nathanael’s job, he has worked very hard building a Marketing department basically from scratch. After three years with the company he began pursuing advancement only to find closed doors in every direction. On the path of pursuing new jobs, Nathanael felt the lord say “wait, I’m going to put it in your lap”. So, we waited. Months later, we felt an urgency to “not waste time” in the place of ministry that God has led us to in St. Louis.

During a period of searching, prayer, fasting, and testing, the verse Luke 6:38 was given to us. “Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you”. Through this scripture, we have seen a pattern and are taking a step of faith to follow. Gateway House of Prayer will not be paying us a salary; we will be relying on the generous financial support of those who are led to give to our family in this season.

Reckless Generosity -> Wait on God’s Timing -> His Provision

Since January 2021, we have raised funds (finances put in our lap through other’s generosity, by His leading) to work and serve at the Gateway House of Prayer. There is information at the bottom of our page if you would like to get monthly updates from us or to partner financially with our family while we serve at the House of Prayer.

Our full-time focus includes the following five areas: 

  • Programming: Developing and launching weekend youth retreats, gap-year program, and multi-ministry events. 
  • Training: this includes worship leader training, raising up the next generation in prayer and worship, and special classes/events to equip our volunteers and the broader St. Louis Church community.
  • Community Networking/Fundraising: Building unity in the Church of STL through raising awareness and partnership for the House of Prayer through face-to-face interactions with churches, ministries, and businesses.
  • Grounds & Facilities: Oversee necessary updates and improvements to create greater functionality on the property and in the building.
  • Day-to-Day: Participation in prayer room sets, administrative responsibilities, and identifying and releasing leaders to grow the House of Prayer.
